For most, this is where it begins. It might even be how you found out about barefoot an minimalist running to begin with. Found on the shelves of shops that otherwise sell only minimalist running shoes, Born To Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen was released in 2009 and written Christopher McDougall.
The American-born Journalist combines incisive observations upon the history of running an the running shoe with near romantic travel-fiction, all the while drawing on his fitness journalism experience.
It’s a great read, and an easy place to be introduced to the calm, colourful and character-filled world of barefoot and minimalist running. It is – and I’m hard to please – a highly enjoyable, addictive and potentially revelatory work.
